Symptomy ogólne i miejscowe związane z wyrzynaniem zębów mlecznych

Summary
Eruption of dentition appears as a compound process which is dependent on genetic, paragenetic and environmental factors. This process incorporates long-term and dynamic changes undergoing before the tooth appears in oral cavity and when the tooth is present in oral cavity. While considering the process of primary teething attention should be paid to terms of eruption of particular teeth and sequence of it and the location of eruption, the condition of the surrounding gingiva and mucosa of oral cavity. Moreover general health condition of the child ought to be monitored focusing on the presence of systemic symptoms which may arise during the process of teething. Mentioned local and systemic symptoms appearing while teeth eruption may manifest as increased drooling, mouthing, irritability, loss of appetite and sleep disturbances and exceptionally diarrhoea and increased body temperature. It is believed that the temperature reaching 38.5°C is not relevant to teething. Also local abnormalities occurring during eruption of milk dentition are observed e.g. gingivitis eruptiva. Mentioned symptoms might be alleviated by medicines and non-pharmacological remedies witch should always be used with great caution and after consultation with pedodontist. In case of severe systemic symptoms pediatric consultations is necessary due to verification of associated systematic diseases.
