Summary
Introduction: In estimate of somatic development, except of erupting deadline significant is sequence of erupting individual
groups of teeth in child's oral cavity.
Aim: The aim of this study was to determine the sequence of eruption of permanent teeth in children from Warsaw including type of teething.
Material and methods: A group of 2354 children: 1143 girls and 1211 boys, aged from 4 years and 7 months to 14 years 1 month (randomly selected from Warsaw preschools and schools) were examined in 2010.
Results: The results of this study indicate that the incisal type is the dominant type of dentition for girls and boys in the upper and lower jaw. In the second phase of dentition the sequence of eruption was as follows: first premolar, canine, second premolar, second molar. Only in the examined group of girls the first erupting was mandibular canine.
Conclusions: The first erupting tooth in researched population was the medial bottom incisor, the last – second molar tooth. Sequence of appearing was variable depending on sex and tooth arch.
