Streszczenie
Biological therapy of cancer includes systemic administration of cytokines, growth factors, immune therapy with tumour vaccines and monoclonal antibodies as well as gene therapy. Systemic treatment with IL-2 and INF-alpha is currently the best available option for patients with disseminated renal cell carcinoma and is also tested in clinical trials with cytotoxic drugs in advanced melanoma patients. Tumour vaccines are tested in dozens of clinical trials. Adjuvant treatment of colon cancer with tumour vaccines has prolonged disease-free survival in the prospective phase III trial. Monoclonal antibodies improve treatment results in lymphomas, colon cancer and breast cancer. Authors present results of the phase I/II clinical trial of immune therapy of melanoma with the genetically modified cellular vaccine, which is carried out in Poznań from 1996.
