Jakość życia w stacjonarnej opiece długoterminowej

Summary
Aim: The aim of a survey was an analysis of chosen aspects of quality of life of patients involved in a long-term stationary care in a town and poviat of Biała Podlaska during the process of care taking and to diagnose and define areas where changes can be made in order to make provisions for a higher quality of life of tenants.
Materials and methods: In every type of questionnaire, the first subject included population and social features, that help with preparing of a profile of examined group of people and which could also serve as variables on the base of which presented below problems were considered. Furthermore, all types of questionnaires included question that help to evaluate a physical state and fitness (serious geriatric problems),evaluate lives of inmates by themselves.
Results: Functioning in a physical, psychological and social areas has an influence on a general subjective evaluation of quality of life of people involved in a long-term stationary care. It was demonstrated, that chosen aspects of life quality of people involved in this type of care shape on the similar level to other establishments serving tha care over chronically sick patients, older and/or disabled people in our country.
Conclusions: The most important actions which should be taken to improve the quality of life of the old, chronically sick patients and disabled people are introducing, as soon as possible, constant support for the old, which should be concentrated on making sure that they have proper heatlh and caring services, improving quality of their lives and further development of the long-term care section destined for older people. It should be based on three basic elements like family, local environment and on institutions of stationary service.
