Summary
Article describes problems with management of artherosclerosis. In introduction the processes leading to development of artherosclerosis were described, considering so called main risk factors of artherosclerosis. Three elements were displayed: vascular endothelium, macrophages, plasma lipids which altogether bring to the progress of artherosclerosis alterations. The role of chylomicrons, very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), high-density lipoprotein (HDL) was discussed as well as the importance of laboratory tests distinguishing different types of hyperlipidemia. Following parts of the article are: diagnosis of artherosclerosis, stress the role of diet in therapy of artherosclerosis. One of the main purposes of this article was to attract attention of medical and pharmaceutical world to important meaning of non-prescriptive agents, mainly vegetal drugs as well as omega triglycerides which can play this role. In this article were also discussed homeopathic drugs which are used in the treatment of atherosclerosis. Seperate and final paragraph concerns vegetal drugs which are used in artherosclerosis of cerebral vessels.
