Summary
In the context of human transience, human existence on earth, sexuality is a key aspect of human existence in terms of gender, gender identity and roles, sexual orientation, eroticism, pleasure, intimacy and procreation. Sexuality is influenced by interactions between biological, psychological, social, economic, political, ethical, legal, historical, religious and spiritual factors.
Medicine should be understood as an integral discipline in itself, and the philosophy of medicine is a philosophy of identifiable human activity. It is important not to limit medicine to biology, physics, chemistry, or psychology – medicine is not only a practice performed by doctors or what patients expect from doctors. This approach is also important, and perhaps especially in family medicine.
Medicine should also be understood as a form of one-of-a-kind relationship - it teaches a lesson about human existence and its passing.
