Summary
We present the case of a 11-years-old girl, who was diagnosed with Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome. The patient was diagnosed with preexcitation at the age of 9, after she had repetitive episodes of palpitations with additional fatigue and weakness and the rest ECG was performed. Atrioventricular reciprocating tachycardia (AVRT) was also observed in the ECG soon, during another incident of palpitation. For 2 years the episodes of AVRT were seen several times. Sometimes, they had to be terminated with adenosine because non-pharmacological maneuvers were not effective. At the age of 11 she was admitted for the first time to the tertiary cardiological center where the diagnosis of preexcitation with left-sided accessory pathway was confirmed. The patient was qualified to electrophysiological examination (EPS). In the EPS, the repetitive incidents of AVRT were triggered. The left-sided, postero-lateral localization of the accessory pathway was confirmed. Directly after EPS, effective radio frequency ablation at the standard settings was performed. After the procedure, during follow-up, the patient had no signs and symptoms of arrhythmia with no preexcitation in the rest ECG and 24 hours ECG monitoring.
