Summary
The purpose of this article is to describe a rare case of Juvenile xanthogranuloma (JXG) in the soft tissue in the neck with simultaneous ocular involvement, which has never been reported in literature.
JXG is a non-Langerhans cell histiocytosis, dendritic cell and histiocytic tumours represent less than 1% of all neoplasms arising from lymph nodes and connective tissue.
There are no standards for treatment of extracutaneous forms of JXG. Skin lesions are typically self-limited.
A 46-year-old patient has been urgently admitted to an otolaryngology department with a tumor in the neck and simultaneous loss of vision in the contralateral eye.
A CT scans of the neck revealed a lithium-fluid mass with uneven outlines, located on the right side of the neck.
As the differential diagnosis required us to consider the possibility of a lymphoma lesion, a diagnostic and therapeutic excision of the tumor was deemed necessary. The microscopic appearance and immunophenotype were consistent with Juvenile xanth
