Dear Readers,
This issue features as many as three articles devoted to septic complications in colorectal surgery. Two of them apply to the Fournier’s gangrene. Works related to the Fournier’s gangrene have been published many times, also in ”New Medicine”. However, I warmly encourage you to read the works in our journal, since it is vital to familiarise with the issue of the Fournier’s gangrene from the point of view of an anaesthetist. The author published a clinical case study and a demonstrative article describing changes in the body in the course of the Fournier’s gangrene as well as contemporary treatment in the case of that serious septic complication.
The issue also features an article devoted to the possible early and distant complications in the course of anal abscesses and fistulae treatment. An anal abscess, often perceived as a banal ailment, whose incision is usually ordered to the youngest and least experienced surgeons, may be the starting point of serious, life-threatening septic complications.
The current issue of ”New Medicine” also covers a case study of a congenital pigmented naevus of rare location near the anus.
Have a nice reading!
