Zastosowanie wyrobu medycznego Lactoangin® w leczeniu zapaleń gardła w populacji pediatrycznej

Summary
Introduction. No study on the application of the new product on the Polish market medical device Lactoangin^® in children, and its compliance with the recommendations of the manufacturer has been performed.
Aim. Therefore the aims of the study were: 1) the analysis of use of Lactoangin^® in pharyngitis and the factors influencing its choice by pediatricians, 2) analysis of the children population, which has most commonly used Lactoangin^®, the time of its application and evaluation of the effects of its use done by caregivers and physicians, 3) evaluation of the taste acceptance of Lactoangin^® by children.
Material and methods. In this questionnaire study participated 103 pediatricians from the whole country of Poland, who included 3320 children treated with Lactoangin^®.
Results. The most important factors determined the choice of preparation Lactoangin^® by physicians were: no possibility of systemic adverse events (74.5%) and of any overdose of the active substance (65.7%) and the impact on the restoration of the natural microflora of the pharynx (64.7%). 40.2% of physicians stated that Lactoangin^®, most commonly was used for 6-7 days, is very effective in alleviation of the symptoms of inflammation, 41.2% in the prevention of secondary bacterial infections, and 44.1% in supporting the treatment of bacterial pharyngitis. In the opinion of 52.0% caregivers the use of Lactoangin^® had a very big impact on mitigation sore throats, and 53.7% – on hydration throat. 69.9% esteemed the preparation as very well tolerated, and 68.9% evaluated the acceptance of its taste by the child as very good.
65.0% of doctors claimed that Lactoangin^® caused in a short time the relief of throat pain, and 35% that symptoms of cold disease have been resolved without the use of antibiotics.
Conclusions. 1. Pediatricians use Lactoangin^® in children diagnosed with cold disease and bacterial pharyngitis, and its choice is determined by: no possibility of systemic side effects and overdose of the active substance and the impact on the restoration of the natural throat’s microflora. 2. Lactoangin^® most often was used for 6-7 days. Its efficacy and tolerance are highly valued by doctors and caregivers of children. 3. Taste of Lactoangin^® product is very well tolerated and accepted by children.
