Summary
Tomatoes and its products are considered to have properties of preventing disease, due to the presence of lycopene and other antioxidant compounds with the potential to scavenge free radicals that damage cellular macromolecules. It is suggested that regular consumption of tomato products enhances the antioxidant capacity of the body due to endogenous antioxidant compounds contained, especially lycopene. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of regular consumption of fresh and processed tomatoes on human organism and evaluation of health prevention properties of tomatoes in the prevention of prostate cancer.
