This issue of “Nowa Medycyna” journal is the first one to include all articles in Polish as well as in English. This will certainly extend the availability of your papers to international readers and raise the prestige of our journal.

In this issue in the Our Masters section you will find an article devoted to the great man of Polish medicine – Mieczysław Tylicki, MD, PhD. Mieczysław Tylicki was the pioneer of proctology in Poland. As one of the first people in the world he emphasised in his publications the key role of the puborectalis muscle in the mechanism of continence. He also refined the classification of anal fistulas by dividing them further into anterior and posterior fistulas, which has practical implications for colorectal surgeons.
