Summary
Treatment of dermatological diseases are developed in different directions. Common skin diseases (like acne, dermatomycosis, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis) are a huge problem, both physiological and social. More than 80% of teenagers suffer from acne, and as ,”Achilles study” shows, of the 40 thousand surveyed people in Poland, 42% have athlete’s foot and 21% onychomycosis. Rising expectations of patients regarding the efficacy of skin diseases therapies forced the search for new treatments. New therapies are sought everywhere, it is observed increasingly returns to the natural therapeutic methods. The phytochemical data show that substances derived from plants may have a better therapeutic effect than conventional therapeutic agents and also shows greater safety for the human organism. Substances derived from plants exert a wide range of pharmacological activity, including: antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory and many others. In addition, they can be used for a long time without worrying about side effects. Moreover, natural substances haven’t often irritating the skin and not cause bacterial resistance, what is often seen in the case of antibiotic therapies. The article reviews the most interesting plants in a point of view of skin diseases treatment.
