Summary
The aim of this review article is to stress the importance of prenatal diagnosis of orofacial clefts and the importance of antenatal counselling for the delivery of a child with cleft to be a positive experience for parents. Several studies (e.g. Berk et al., 1999) have showed that parents appear to value preparation in spite of acknowledging anxiety associated with prenatal information.
