Summary
Intestinal or perianal tuberculosis is rare disease. The nontypical location of disease is usually associated with decrease of the patient`s resistance often during immunosuppressive therapy. The symptoms of perianal tuberculosis are non-specific and often lead to erroneous diagnoses and thus incorrect and ineffective treatment. Often changes in the colon or rectum is not accompanied with pulmonary tuberculosis. The symptoms include chronic pain around the anus, nodular masses, fistulae, abscesses and non-healing, recurrent ulcers and anal fissures. The results of histological examination of the operational preparation also often do not show clear evidence of tuberculosis. In the article, the authors describe the case history of 68-year-old man with perianal tuberculosis treated initially due to misdiagnosis of hemorrhoidal disease and from recurrent fissures and perianal tumor. The occurrence of sympthoms of pulmonary tuberculosis has contributed the diagnosis of tuberculosis and inclusion the antituberculotic treatment resulted in overall healing of changes in the patient`s anus.
