Summary
Introduction. Rational nutrition and physical activity are the best ways to prevent chronic non-communicable diseases. Nutrition of boys aged 8-12 years is very important, in relation to the period of the organism growth, as well as higher rates of physical activity.
Aim. The aim of this study was to nutrition models of boys aged 8-12 years that train in the Football Academy, by determining the supply of energy and nutrients.
Material and methods. Diet evaluation was based on a nutritional interview that was repeated 3 times. The nutritional value and energy were calculated using the computer program called Dieta 5. Obtained data was compared with current standards of nutrition.
Results. Food rations provided to young athletes in each age category were incompatible with the rules of rational nutrition. Studying food rations showed significant energy deficit.
Conclusions. There were no significant statistical differences in the diet between a group of 8-9 and 10-12 year-old boys. It is recommended that further research of the diet of physically active children, as far as quantitative assessment is concerned, are to be continued in the future.
