Summary
Bioactive compounds are present not only in plants considered as medicinal. A vegetables, mostly from Brassicaceae family and wide-spread weeds, eg. Wild rocket (Diplotaxis tenuifolia (L.) DC.) are rich sources of the active substances also. A glucosinolates and polyphenols are the most known bioactive compounds of wild rocket. Glucosinolates and its enzymatic degradation products have an antibacterial and chemopreventive activities. A quercetine glycosides are the dominant flavonoids also glycosides of kaempferol and isorhamnetin are present in wild rocket herb. Polyphenols and vitamin C in aerial parts of D. tenuifolia, are responsible for the antioxidant activity of raw material.
