Summary
To the investigations were used hemp essentials oil obtained from native cultivar of hemp (Cannabis sativa L.). The main components of essential oil were: β-myrcene (40.3%), ocimene oxide (16.3%), trans-caryophyllene (12.8%), α-pinene (9.5%) and limonene. The investigations included 61 strains of microorganism: 6 Gram-positive bacteria, 7 Gram-negative bacteria, 16 yeasts, 29 dermatophytes and 3 moulds. The estimation of antibiotic avtivity was conducted on fluid media: Antibiotic Broth (bacteria), Sabouard Broth (fungi) by methods of serial dilutions. The minimal concentration of hemp essential oil (mg/ml) inhibiting the growth of investigated strains (MIC – Minimal Inhibitory Concentration) was estimated. Than were the results counted into antibiotic units (AU). The high antibiotic activity showed the hemp essential oil against Gram-positive bacteria (averagely 1000 AU), yeasts (averagely 4500 AU) and dermatophytes (averagely 1100 AU). The tested essential oil acted mild against Gram-negative bacteria (averagely 95 AU) and moulds (averagely 245 AU). On the base of conducted studies could be resulted the use of native hemp essential oil as a component of dermatologic and cosmetics preparations.
