Summary
Introduction. Vaccinations are the most common and most effective form of prevention activities aimed at the prevention and control of infectious diseases. Thanks to vaccinations diseases such as smallpox, diphtheria, polio has been eliminated, and the incidence of measles, tetanus and tuberculosis decreased significantly.
Aim. Aim of this study is to understand the state of knowledge of pregnant women about immunization and learn about their decision regarding vaccination of their children.
Material and methods. The study included 120 pregnant women aged 17-43 years (mean age 28.3). The majority of respondents lived in urban areas (76%). Among the respondents, 69% had a university degree, the average 22%, professional training and core was approximately 7%. Most of the women was primiparas – 80%. Over 90% of respondents planning to vaccinate their children, and 65% of them have taken this decision with your partner. On average, respondents were 28 weeks of pregnancy. Followed by a diagnostic survey was carried out with the use of proprietary questionnaire. Poll of the paper contains 23 questions, which included open and closed questions. The study was carried out directly in the classroom in antenatal classes.
Results. The above data shows that 66 (55%) of the women surveyed believes that vaccinations may involve negative health consequences, 54 (45%) consider vaccination to be safe, with no side effects. According to 72 (60%) surveyed the epidemiological situation has improved by eliminating or reducing the occurrence of infectious diseases through the introduction of vaccination, 31 (26%) of the women had no opinion on the subject, 13 (11%) believe that the situation has not changed, but 4 (3%) surveyed women did not reply to that question. The vast majority of women surveyed knew that the performance of vaccination will also have positive effects on health.
Conclusions. Among the study population of women there is a high awareness of the threat of infectious diseases of children. Despite the high awareness of the threat of communicable diseases knowledge Immunization Program for pregnant women is inadequate, which should result in the promotion of the content of the program.
