Summary
Chamomile is low-growing, annual plant, native in Europe. The main chemical constituents of this plant are as follow: coumarins, cyanogenic glycosides, flavonoids, salicylates, tannins, volatile oil, polysaccharides. The dried flowers of Chamomilla recutita and essential oil are used as biological active parts. Plant has a long and rich history of medicinal use. Chamomilla recutita is considered to have analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, carminative, diaphoretic, laxative, stomachic, sedative and tonic activities. A wide spectrum of pharmacological activity of Matricaria recutita makes this plant on of the most important in the similar group of popular medicinal plants.
