Summary
The aim of this article is the presentation of dry eye syndrome, which is a popular disorder especially among elderly patients. It shows various causes leading to dry eye as well as its common symptoms, diagnostics and treatment. The fact that there are many iatrogenic causes of this syndrome is worth noticing. For doctors it is necessary to remember about different forms of dry eye symptoms and reasons for tear film disturbances, not only those being in the ophthalmologist´s interests area.
