In physiology, autonomic nervous system (ANS) is instrumental mainly in short-term regulation of cardiovascular homeostasis. Its parasympathetic and sympathetic (SNS) components are regarded as two opposing forces with the parasympathetic nervous system endorsing “rest and digest” while the SNS “flight and fight”.
