Summary
A strong need to find an alternative to unsightly reconstruction was the cause of increased use for these purposes ceramics and composite materials. One way to rebuild tooth loss stroma, in addition to traditional conservative fillings are crown inlays. Indirect recovery technique using composite materials had its beginning in the early 80s of XX century. The main goal of this procedure was to eliminate the problems associated with the performance of the classical direct fillings. Composite crown inlays were subjected to short- and longtime observations, the results of which may not always coincide with each other. Making lasting and durable ceramic inlays was possible in the 80s of the XX century, with the improvement of the physical properties of ceramics and the introduction of adhesive cementation technique. For a comprehensive evaluation of the applicability of these additions are many factors, such as: durability, post procedural discomfort, the duration of treatment, and the price must be taken into account both in terms of clinical and patient requirements. Many studies and experiments have been taken in order to determine the stability of aesthetic inlays, both composite and ceramic. Attempts to compare the contributions of composite and ceramic also does not give a clear answer. Therefore, there is a clear need for further research and observation in order to more accurately determine the clinical parameters such additions.
