Summary
The process of apoptosis which can take place in every cell is controled by genetic program. The programmed cell death occurs in physiological condition and also in many pathologies. This paper is a presentation on programmed prostate cell death and pathology of BPH. This review had focused on apoptosis significance in BPH patient treatment and prevention of prostate cancer. The influence of antagonists of alfa-adrenoreceptors and inhibitors of 5alfa-reductase on programmed cell induction in stroma and epithelium was presented. The first observations of longterm treatment using antagonists of alfa-adrenergic receptors drugs was analysed in term of chemoprevention. Authors try to expect advantages coming soon from this knowledge and trends which will in the future.
