Summary
Based on the analysis of the literature and the experience of A. Pozowski, presents the problems of sport activity in patients after hip replacement surgery. It presents the opportunities and constraints posed by the surgery and a proper conduct before joint replacement as well as after it. Authors of this publication pay attention to the influence of physical activity on the quality of human physical and mental functioning. Moreover, the article illustrates the process of patients’ preparation to physical activity considering individual features and possibilities. The crucial role in further procedure is to choose a proper technique of surgery and type of hip replacement. All the necessary requirements and conditions that patient has to meet before sports activity have been listed. Another topic that has been described is properly balanced diet and well-chosen footwear. The information contained in the article is a source of knowledge for people who want to prepare themselves for physical activity after hip replacement to help them safely proceed it. On the basis of publications and books of several different authors, sports classifications show that there is no clear and universal division of disciplines recommended or forbidden for people with hip replacement. Patients after total hip replacement are not excluded from sports activities. When appropriate, the individual proceedings can bring patients a lot of pleasure and benefits.
