Summary
Introduction. Vaccinations are the most effective method for preventing spreading communicable diseases. A vaccination schedule is a series of vaccinations, including basic and recommended vaccinations.
Aim. The aim of this study was to analyse opinions about recommended vaccinations and estimated the coverage of this vaccinations.
Material and methods. Group of 320 patients visited Polyclinic SPSK 4 in Lublin were tested using self-prepared questionnaire in March 2012.
Results. 44% respondents chose recommended vaccinations for their children. The results were statistically significant for the age of children and the most popular vaccination. Among parents of the youngest children, under 10 years old, anti-pneumococci vaccination was the most popular. Parents of children over 11 years old, mostly chose influenza vaccine. The main source of knowledge concerning vaccinations was a doctor (57%). The main reason for decision of resign from recommended vaccination was fear of adverse effects (30%) and high price of vaccination (28%).
Conclusions. Nearly half of children was inoculated with recommended vaccinations. The majority of respondents assessed recommends vaccinations as a good, but this form of protection was not available for part of parents due to high price. The results of the studies conducted shows that parents do not have sufficient knowledge about recommended vaccinations and increasing pro-health awareness is necessary.
