Summary
Doctors and nurses are the two professional groups that cooperate closely with one another in providing healthcare to patients. However, this cooperation is not easy, being influenced by a number of factors. The doctor-nurse relationships often bear the mark of the stereotypically dominant role of the doctor over the nurse. This problem appears already at the time of medical studies, where it grows, and then is transferred to the area of professional work.
The aim of this work is to present the relationship between doctors and nurses and describe the state of corresponding research as detailed in Polish medical publications in the years 2005-2012. The main data base for searching the relevant information was the Polish Medical Bibliography (Polska Bibliografia Lekarska). In addition, available medical journals were searched manually.
The issues related to cooperation between those professionals were described from the point of view of nurses, doctors, medical students and nurse trainees.
