Summary
Cancer chemoprevention is the delaying, inhibition or reversal of carcinogenic progression to invasive cancer by natural, synthetic, or biologic chemical agents. Chemoprevention is one of the options for women who are at risk of breast cancer next to increased surveillance and prophylactic mastectomy. It has been described a number of different chemopreventive agents, from which several belongs to applied drugs, as tamoxifen. Some natural substances have chemopreventive properties too. They could be useful in combination with conventional chemotherapeutic agents in chemoprevention of breast cancer and this combination could be more effective and less toxicity. The review summaries the basic data on some natural substances with chemopreventive activity in breast cancer.
