Summary
Aim: The aim of the study was to carry out a clinical and radiological evaluation of the results of treatment of permanent teeth in young patients by means of the total pulp amputation method using Biodentine® (Septodont).
Material and methods: The study included 3 patients aged 8-11 years, who were treated in the Outpatients’ Clinic at the Department of Pediatric Dentistry in Zabrze. The clinical and radiological evaluation was conducted on the day the patients with an injury – a crown fracture with pulp exposure (Ellis class III) arrived at the clinic and after the procedure of total amputation using Biodentine®.
Results: The check-up X-ray after 3 months from the performed total amputation procedures revealed the presence of dental bridges.
Conclusions: The early observations reveal Biodentine® seems to be a good alternative to materials based on Ca(OH)2 and MTA applied in the procedure of pulp total amputation.
