Summary
Meckel’s diverticulum is the most common congenital gastrointestinal tract. For most people, Meckel’s diverticulum gives no symptoms, so it is usually diagnosed incidentally in patients during surgical procedures performed because of other diseases in the peritoneal cavity. Complications associated with diseases occurring in Meckel’s diverticulum may be dangerous to health and life of the patient. In the event of complications associated with the presence of Meckel’s diverticulum must perform surgery.
In this article the authors present a case of patient who were treated surgically because of Meckel’s diverticulitis and also reviewed the recent literature relating to this disease and its treatment.
