Zastosowanie testów diagnostyki mikrobiologicznej u pacjentów z chorobą przyzębia

Summary
Introduction: Dental plaque plays a major role in the initiation process of periodontal disease. Therefore, research is still ongoing in order to develop more sensitive and specific microbiological tests. Studies of many authors also show that the antibiotic therapy applied based on microbiological test results of periopathogenic microflora, is of significant benefit to patients as it leads to reduction of bacteria, and consequently to improvement of the clinical status of periodontium.
The purpose of this study is to present the microbiological tests on the basis of available literature. Microscopic observation of the colony, bacterial cultures, immunological and enzymatic as well as genetic methods were considered.
Conclusions: All currently available tests based on the analysis of bacteria and their products have advantages and disadvantages. At present there is no perfect test available, but in spite of this the use of a clinical trial in combination with diagnostic tests meant to monitor periopathogens can provide optimal patient care.
