Summary
Aim: The aim of the research was the comparison of mechanical strength different types of stitches used in wound closure in dental surgery.
Material and methods: Mono- and polifilament sutures made of different materials. Breaking force of measured by means the “VEB Thuringen Industriewert Rauenstein” device.
Results: The greatest strength was needed to break the thread Safil (B. Braun) 2.0 and equalled 102N. Minimum force was needed in case the thread Mopylen (Resorba) 3.0 and – 18N.
Conclusions: The polyfilament stitches appeared to be more breaking resistant in comparison with monofilament ones. The best mechanical strength revealed stiches made of polyglotic acid next were polyamid silk and bad quality presented polipropylen ones.
