Summary
The oncological treatment carries the risk of loss of fertility, especially in young women who are in the reproductive period. The term oncofertility means to preserve or safeguard fertility in cancer patients. This applies not only to women in reproductive period, which must undergo oncologcial treatment which can cause problems or even the end of the reproductive process. This problem observes in men who are treated with testicular cancer, prostate, or lymphoma. The techniques ART (Assisted Reproductive Technologies), IVF (in vitro fertilization) and IVM (oocytes matured in vitro), freezing of embryos, oocytes vitrification, freezing fragments of the ovary and the donation of ova and embryos from other women.
