Summary
Introduction: The number of new cases of mental disorders over the years shows an upward trend both in Poland and other European countries. Mental disorders are one of the top issues facing IT European countries. One of the conditions to improve the current statistics may become effective mental health promotion including in it the role of GP. The aim of the work is to present measures of mental health promotion including the role of the GP.
Material and methods: The group of 154 patients benefiting from visits to the GP was conducted anonymous survey. Compiling the necessary measures collected data was performed in SPSS.
Results: The results of studies conducted on patients doctors GP, show a small part of the problem, such as the destruction of the mental and the associated mental health promotion, detection of mental disorders and their treatment. Also illustrates a problem that is associated with a GP who, after analyzing the data does not play a significant role in these activities in the area of mental health.
Conclusions: The role of the GP in the area of mental health care is low. The doctor did not talk with patients about mental health.
