Summary
Ganoderma lucidum has been known for many millennia in folk medicine of China and Japan, used in stomach diseases, arthritis, asthma. In the past this fungus was grown only in the natural environment. Currently, because of the value of phytochemicals, it is cultivated, which makes it more accessible and achievable. This fungus is highly rich in minerals, aminoacids, proteins, triterpenes, glycosides, essential oils, vitamin C. The plant has attracted attention due to its wealth of polysaccharides which are isolated from their organs. That is why a lot of research is carried out on the usage of Ganoderma lucidum in the treatment of diseases such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes, etc. These studies are very promising therefore this plant is very popular as an adjunct to chronic diseases.
