Summary
Herbal honeys are produced by bees from sugar base enriched with extracts or juices obtained from medicinal plants. The herbal honeys show a different chemical composition in regard to natural honeys. They show a slighty higher contents of sucrose, significantly higher contents of bioelements also the presence of biologiaclly active substances typical for medicinal plants added to sugar medium. The biological activity and therapeutic effectiveness of herbal honeys is higher in comparison with natural honeys. To herbal honeys investigated in hospital condition belong stinging nettle honey (used by convalescents after viral hepatitis B and after malabsorption by children), pine honey (for treatment of infection of upper respiratory tract), chamomile honey (used in case of disturbances of peristalsis), hawthorn honey (used by patients after gallbladder removal), aloe honey (used as a laxative) and broccoli honey (used for prophylaxis of cancer).
