Summary
Phytoestrogens are the group of substances which naturally can be found in many plants. The richest sources of phytoestrogens in human’s diet are soy and soy products. Phytoestrogens have similar structure to main female sex hormone 17β estradiol, therefore displaying mimic effects of this hormone in organism. The aim of the dissertation was to investigate if phytoestrogens are able to influence on expression estrogens’ receptors type α and β in testis and epididymis in adult male mice. Male Balb/c mice were fed three kinds of special prepared animal chows that differed in content of soy, and in this way in content of phytoestrogens. The experiments revealed the decrease the number of estrogen receptors type β in epithelial cells of the epididymis of adult males, which were fed chow containing phytoestrogens, which can disturb their fertility. However, the direct mechanisms influencing of these substances on the organism are still unclear. Therefore, the further research is required to elucidate the molecular actions of phytoestrogens on cells.
