Analiza zachowań prozdrowotnych młodzieży 18-letniej uczęszczającej do szkół średnich w Łodzi

Summary
Introduction: Systematic conduct of epidemiological studies and evaluation of oral health is reducing the incidence of caries and periodontal disease by improving the quality of dental services and increasing health awareness.
Aim of the study: Aim of the studyas to assess the influence of both oral hygiene and nutrition habits on the intensity of caries in young 18-year, attending secondary schools in Lodz.
Material and methods: Material of the study consisted of 147 patients (69 girls and 78 boys). Based on the obtained data, there were evaluated measurement of DMF, DMFs, OHI, CPITN.
Results: Among the high school youth, averaged DMFs was 4.96, and fundamental professional school 12.8. Among women, the average values of OHI and DMFs are lower (respectively: 0.57 and 5.77) than in males (respectively: 0.74 and 9.27). The lowest values of OHI, DMF, DMFs obtained among adolescents whose parents have higher education.
Conclusions: Correlation between the level of heath awareness, oral hygiene status and prevalence of dental caries in examined group has been found.
