Summary
Iron plays the essential role in the molecular metabolic process of the whole organism. Iron deficiency leads to the most common type of children anemia in Poland. The disease is characterized by hemoglobin and iron dependent enzymes synthesis deprivation. We discuss the main reasons of iron deficiency especially in digestive tract diseases and present clinical symptoms, diagnosis, current treatment in chosen clinical cases.
