Summary
Plantago lanceolata L. is a well known plant, used and studied for many years. Used frequently in ancient times in tisanes and other herbal remedies. P. lanceolata was also used as an antidote for snake bites and love fascinations. Curently, studies have confirmed the medicinal effects of this plant. Clinical studies prove that P. lancelata is a plant with a broad medicine use. These studies show that Plantago has chemical substances which have antibacterial, anticough properties, to encourage the distribution of interferon and helps in the treatment of stomach ulcer. P. lancelata is also used in cosmetics, especially as intimae gel. The fresh, pulped leaves helps in healing injuries and insect bites.
