Summary
Acteoside – compound belonging to phenylpropanoid glycosides is widely distributed in the plant kingdom, among others in families: Araliaceae, Bignoniaceae, Crassulaceae, Labiateae, Oleaceae, Plantaginaceae, Polygonaceae, Scrophulariaceae, Smilaeaceae, Verbenaceae. Acteoside as a constituent of many medicinal plants (e.g.: Verbascum sp., Plantago sp., Verbena sp.) decides on their antiphlogistic, free radical scavenging and antimicrobial activities. This article summarizes data about biological and pharmacological activities of compound.
