Summary
Centella asiatica L. is a traditional medicinal plant known and used by people in medicinal and cosmetic purposes for thousands of years. It is characterized by an exceptionally wide range of applications, mainly due to the presence of pentacyclic triterpenoid saponins. The results of modern research show the merits of the application Centella asiatica in disorders of the nervous system, cardiovascular system, stomach ulcers and skin diseases. Furthermore, antibacterial properties of Centella asiatica L. and its positive effects on wound healing were confirmed. Currently its therapeutic possibilities are still being researched.
