Summary
In this study 10 strains of Helicobacter pylori isolated from atherosclerotic plaques obtained from during surgery from femoral artery common (3 strains), external iliac artery (2 strains), carotid (5 strains) and 3 reference strains were tested. The susceptibility (MIC) rods to Citrosept (grapefruit extract) was determined by means of plate dilution technique in Brucella agar with 5% defibrinated sheep blood. The inoculums containing 105 CFU per spot was seeded with Steers replicator upon the surface of agar. Incubation the plates was performed in anaerobic conditions in anaerostat with Campy Pak Plus, at 37°C for 48 h. MIC was defined as the lowest concentrations of the Citrosept inhibiting the growth of tested rods. The results showed, that extract of grapefruit were very active against Helicobacter pylori. The growth of 90% the strains was inhibited at concentrations of Citrosept in ranges ≤ 15-250 ?g/ml.
