Summary
Vasovagal syncope are thg most common type of syncope in children and adolescents. Vasovagal syncope are defined as short, self-limited lost of consciousness with accompanying diminished blood flow through the brain, caused by the dysfunction of auto-regulation of circulatory system.
The prognosis is good. Possibility of trauma and reduced quality of life are the main problems especially in patients with recurrent syncope. The most important issue is reassurance by physician about benign character of the condition and necessity of the modification of life style. Patients should be also educated how to react when prodromal symptoms occur to reduce risk of the injury and the number of syncope.
