Summary
Recurrent syncopes are very common and difficult diagnostic and therapeutic issue in pediatrics. Syncope is defined as a transient loss of consciousness, caused by global, cerebral hypoperfusion, usually accompanied by falling, with spontaneous recovery. The reasons of syncope are divided on: neurogenic, cardiogenic and orthostatic. Vasovagal syncope, as a part of neurogenic syncope is the most common cause of short loss of consciousness in children and adolescents. Initial evaluation of syncope including close history, physical examination and rest ECG is most often sufficient in order to asses the necessity of further diagnostic plan. There is very important to pay attention at the syncope – like states in diagnostic process e.g. pseudosyncope and seizures. The crucial therapeutical management for syncope is patient's education about the reasons, mechanism of the disease and non – pharmacological support.
