Aktywność preparatu Argol wobec grzybów drożdżopodobnych wyizolowanych z jamy ustnej i dróg oddechowych

Summary
The sensitivity to Argol 31 strains of yeast-like fungi isolated from patients with infections of oral cavity and respiratory tract was tested. The susceptibility (MIC) of fungi to Argol was determined by means of plate dilution technique in Sabouraud agar. The inoculum containing 106 CFU per spot was seeded with Steers inoculator upon the surface of agar with drug and plate without drug (strains growth control). Incubation the plates was performed in aerobic conditions at 37°C for 24 or 48 h. The MIC was defined as the lowest concentration of the Argol inhibiting the growth of yeast. The results indicated, that the most susceptible to Argol were the strains from the genera of Candida, from genus of Candida mesenterica, Rhodotorula rubra and Geotrichum candidum (MICs for 100% these strains were = 125.0 to 250.0 μg/ml).The Argol was very active against the strains from genus of Candida albicans. The growth of 77% of these strains were inhibited within the range from = 125.0 to 375.0 μg/ml. In this study we obserwed that Argol has significant antifungal effect and may offer in preservative or treatment of fungal infections.
