Aktywność preparatu Pectosol wobec bakterii beztlenowych powodujących zakażenia dróg oddechowych

Summary
A total of 70 strains of anaerobic bacteria isolated from patients with infections of respiratory tract were tested. The susceptibility (MIC) of anaerobes to Pectosol was determined by means of plate dilution technique in Brucella agar supplemented with 5% defibrynated sheep blood, menadione and hemin. The inoculum contained 106 CFU per spot. The agar plates were inoculated using a Steers replicator. Plates were incubated in anaerobic jars for 48 h in 37°C in anaerobic conditions. The MIC was interpreted as the lowest concentrations of Pectosol inhibiting the growth of anaerobes. The results indicated, that Pectosol was very active against the anaerobic bacteria. The strains belonging to the genera Prevotella were the most sensitive. MIC´s for 67% of these strains were to the concentrations within the ranges from ≤ 0.6 to 2.5 mg/ml. The strains of Gram-negative cocci belonging to the genera Veillonella were the most resistance (MIC ≥ 20.0 mg/ml). The Pectosol was very active against the Gram-positive anaerobes. The concentrations in ranges of 1.2 – ≤ 0.6 mg/ml inhibited the growth of 92% the cocci and 70% the rods.
