Summary
Using herbal drugs in health resort´s treatment, by Sebastian Kneipp (1821-1897), is one of the most important element of the treatment process in health centers in Western Europe. The aim of this process is to familiarize German health resorts with the essence and aims of the Kneipp´s phytotherapy. In Kneipp´s therapy, herbs are used additionally to the hydrotherapeutic procedures, as a supplement to the diets and in a form of teas. Herbal supplements and tea are prescribed by doctors to every patient at the beginning of the cure, what is more, they are inscribed in a treatment book and they are treated equally to other forms of treatment. The original Kneipp´s recipes for tea, so-called "tea formulas”, which contained mixtures of varied herbs, were based on his own experience. Kneipp used 31 herbal mixtures which were prepared of 46 herbal healing species.
