Biologia wzrostu i rozwoju pszczelnika mołdawskiego ( Dracocephalum moldavica L.) rośliny aromatycznej o właściwościach leczniczych

Summary
In the introduction to the paper there were presented data concerning the taxonomy, origin and meaning of the Latin name genus Dracocephalum and Polish usable name – dragonhead. This species occurs in Poland in wild state in botanical gardens and in homestead plots, where 4 species of that kind can be recorded (thymus, narrow – leafed, Austrian and Moldavian dragonheads). The present study aimed at reviewing the literature concerning characteristics, morphology as well as biology and development of Moldavian dragonhead Dracocephalum moldavica L. In the review of the literature concerning chemical composition there were presented data pertaining to the contend and composition of ethereal extract contained in the herb and fatty oil occurring in seeds. Phytochemical analysis of the herb showed the presence of phenol compound, including rosemary and coffeic acid, flavonoids as well as tannins and tanns. The Moldavian dragonhead is a plant used in folk medicine. Ethereal extract has an antiseptic, analgesic and sedative effect, increases bile secretion, has diastolic and carminative action. Alcohol extracts are components of preparations used in digestion disorders and anorexia. Dragonhead herbs can be applied for aromatizing food and in perfumery industry.
