Streszczenie
Introduction. An attempt to recognise nutritional habits of junior high school students was made according to the following factors: changes of nutritional habits in our families, different nutritional habits, meals rarely eaten together by the whole family as well as escalating occurrence of obesity among the young people
Material and methods. The research was conducted by means of diagnostic poll. A modified questionnaire entitled ´Children and youth lifestyle´ compiled by German authors was used in the research. The questionnaire was verified in an international research project ´Kinder heute – Bewegungsmuffel, Fast Food Junkies, Medienfreaks, Eine Lebensstialanalyse´. In the presented paper the questions concerning nutritional habits were analysed. There were the questions involving the issues of nutritional ingredients as well as regularity of meals consumption from Monday to Friday. The research covered the group of 867 students of junior high schools in the Westpomeranian Province.
Results. The analysed research material indicates low differentiation of diet components among the respondents. Their diet, which is dominated by meat and fast food, lacks fruit, vegetables and fish. The achieved results are differentiated by gender and size of agglomeration.
Conclusions. 1) The higher the BMI index is, the more crisps, sweets and fast foods are eaten by the students. 2) As the students get older, there is less and less meals eaten together by the whole family (dinners and suppers in particular). 3) Irregularity in eating breakfast at home appears more frequently in girls than in boys. 4) Junior high school students´ diet is characterised by low differentiation.
